awareness

Tap Tap Tap is a band of physically handicapped people and they are doing amazing things and songs for awareness about their everyday challenges. This song is so funny and smart (the 3 bus drivers are quite famous singers). It is obviously about three ignorant bus drivers who are behaving like idiots when arguing with the handicapped man about not letting him with his bike into the bus. The language is important, but I think the idea is pretty universal.

Today we talked with M. and my sister about how people are more and more "used to" disabled people and really lot of people (and actually lot of drivers too!) are very nice and helpful. The trigger was one particular comment that doesn't matter. Unfortunately, when it comes to underweight or NG tube, the staring and sometimes rude commetns in the streets/subway/train are really uncomfortable. So many people (including the educated ones) think about eating disorders like about some kind of thing unthankful and spoiled middle or upper class people are doing to themselves instead of living happy life in a body that was healthy with 4 healthy limbs, 2 healthy eyes and 2 hearing ears. Sigh. Sometimes I would trade a leg for not having this disease. There were times when I wished even worse things to happen instead of having anorexia. But why am I writing this when everybody who reads it knows.

Whatever, I just wanted to share this nice song. Quickest post ever. Have a nice weekend!
