The other day Remedy told us to pick one person we respect and admire. We were supposed to make short presentation for another members of the group. We could pick a family member, fictional character, historical person, there were no strict limits. One girl of the group presented Sophie Scholl, young german woman who was pacifist and activist in the anti Nazi non violent resistance group called White Rose. When distributing pacifist leaflets with her brother at the Munich University she was captured, inprisoned and executed. She was not even 22 years old. The presentation about Sophie Scholl was extremely moving and included several scenes of the film Sophie Scholl - The final days. I decided to watch the film as soon as possible, but I was too busy, so that as soon as possible came yesterday. I don´t cry when watching films. However, yesterday I did. All I can say is that it´s worth watching!
And one more thought- I really liked the diversity of "heroes" and values who were picked by us. Who is your hero? And why?
In other news I have new haircut after 2 years. My hair is short now! It is one of the exercises we should do. I was pretty scared because I don´t like someone new touching my body, feeling the spines and ankles. I am nervous about conversation with hair dresser lady and I simply don´t needed new haircut, my hair was long and quite tidy. However, Remedy said it´s extremely important to take this extra care. And so I was watching my face in the mirror and my hair falling on the floor for almost an hour. In the end, there were much more hair on the floor than on my head. But maybe I made one microscopic step to normality.
Hooray for short hair! I love it - it's so easy to take care of.
ReplyDeleteMy hero is my grandmother, my mother's mother. She grew up very poor in an unhappy home, raised nine (!!!) children on a single paycheck, and is one of the kindest, most generous people you will ever meet.
Thanks Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI was constantly rubbing my neck yesterday, because it was so naked. But I quite like it:)
And wow, having nine children is pretty uncommon in our grandmother´s generation here! Every child is its own universe, it´s wonderful! My grandgrandmother had 13 children. She "baked" her premature kids in the oven, because there were no incubators. I haven´t have the chance to get to know her, but I always try to imagine her in 21st century- what would she study, what would her political views be, what would she do?
